Toss these Today!
Real Talk from a Real Mom…
Big cleaning brands want you to believe you need a specialized chemical cleaner under your sink for every single room, surface, and mess in your house.
On the flip side, the “crunchy” crowd swears you can fix everything with vinegar. Leaving your house smelling like a pickle factory while tough grease and soap scum don’t budge.
I’m here to tell you: you don’t need either!
Ready to lighten your load?
Here are 3 everyday items that are super toxic, take up space in your home, and cost you a ton of money.
Toss these today to instantly make your space safer for your family:

Air Fresheners
Why You Should Toss Them:
Most commercial air fresheners don’t actually “clean” or neutralize odors, they mask them with synthetic fragrances and phthalates that coat your nasal passages and pollute your indoor air.
The Easy Swap:
- Open a window for fresh air circulation.
- Diffuse Essential Oils. (Lemon is great for this)
- Use Cleaning tools that actually remove the odor-causing dirt, grime, and bacteria, so you don’t have to cover the smells up.

Dryer Sheets
Why You Should Toss Them:
That soft feeling and artificial scent come from a thin layer of heat-activated animal fats and synthetic waxes that coat your clothes and towels.
This coating ruins the absorbency of your bath towels, builds up in your dryer’s lint trap (a fire risk!), and sits directly against skin all day long.
Dryer sheets and Fabric Softeners are notorious for making your “laundry smell good”, but what is actually in that smell?
The word ‘Fragrance’ on a dryer sheet box is actually a legal loophole masking hundreds of secret chemical compounds like phthalates and synthetic VOCs, that get heated up, vented into your home’s air, and trapped against your kids’ skin 24/7.
Struggling with mystery skin rashes, eczema, or breathing issues? Ditching that fake ‘fresh laundry’ scent is often the single fastest fix!
The Easy Swap:
- Nothing! You actually don’t need to use anything.
- Vinegar. (I know! I said vinegar isn’t for cleaning, but it works great at softening the fibers in your clothes. Pour a little in the fabric softener slot.)
- Wool Dryer Balls! They naturally soften laundry, reduce drying time, save money, and keep harsh chemical films off your family’s clothes.

Disinfecting Wipes
Why You Should Toss Them:
They feel convenient, but most people don’t use them correctly. I wasn’t! Go read the directions.
Labels state the surface must stay dripping wet for 4 to 10 minutes to actually sanitize!
I don’t know about you, but I was using one wipe to clean my whole kitchen.
Another direction I didn’t read… you are supposed to clean the surface before using the wipes, and then again after… because they are hazardous to humans!
So if you aren’t using them correctly, they are just spreading chemical residue and bacteria across your counters, cost you a ton of money, and create endless trash.
The Easy Swap:
- The Envirocloth and Window cloth! They are just as easy as wipes, they remove 99.9% of bacteria when properly used, and they are reusable!
- But for now, if you don’t have those, use your wipes according to directions, or just use some soap and water.
